Recruiting
On Wednesday, Sept. 24th Eric and I attended the career fair at CSU Chico in hopes to find the next member of TY. We are looking for an Entry Level Staff Accountant to start in January and an Intern for the summer of 2009. Considering we are a new company and this was our first career fair, we had a great turnout. The most exciting part of the career fair was that we met a lot of students who had already heard of TY and had even taken the time to research us on our website.
Dana, who was one of our interns during the summer and is currently finishing up her last semester, spent most of the day with us at our booth to share her experience with fellow students. Dana will be starting at TY full time in January as a Staff Accountant. Thanks for your help Dana! Our next career fair will be on Oct. 1st at St. Mary’s in Moraga.

Welcome New Employees and Affiliates
The TY team would like to welcome our new employees and affiliates. The following have joined the team in a variety of positions. Jill Perry joins us as a tax manager on a part time basis. Jill worked for Big 4 CPA firm before taking time off to spend time with her children. Please join us in welcoming Jill to TY and back into the CPA profession. Linda Martins joins us an audit manager. Prior to joining our team Linda owned and operated her own accounting and bookkeeping practice here in San Ramon. Prior to leaving the CPA profession to start her own accounting services firm she spent 13 years work as an audit manager for a local firm in Walnut Creek.
Not only are we lucky to have Jill and Linda join our team but we have also acquired Martins Accounting & Management Services, Inc. (MAMS). MAMS offers a variety of bookkeeping and payroll services. TY and MAMS will continue to work independently and, yet together. Linda was the owner of MAMS and in order for her to follow her passion in the audit industry we needed to find a suitable replacement for Linda. We were lucky to have a relationship with Teresa Karlson. Teresa has over 15 years of bookkeeping experience, including operating her own business, Take Charge. Teresa will join MAMS as its Managing Director. Cindy Densmore who is an existing employee at MAMS will continue to work there with Teresa. Please help us welcome Jill, Linda, Teresa, Cindy and Martins Accounting & Management Services, Inc. to the TY team.

Congratulations Taryn & Becky
Just wanted to let everyone know that Taryn Woolley (one of our staff accountants) and his wife Becky are the proud owners of their first home. Taryn and Becky got the keys to their new home in Pittsburg last Friday and spent the weekend moving. I'm sure Taryn would have rather been in the office working on tax returns. The timing of this purchase is very good, as they are also expecting their first child in November. They should have plenty of time to get the nursery completed by the time the baby arrives.
Congratulations Taryn and Becky!

TY Summer Picnic
Well this has definitely been a year of firsts. I guess that happens during your first year of being in business.
We had our first Company picnic last Friday at City Beach in Fremont. Just about everyone was able to attend. Glen we did miss you, especially during the team building competition. We could have used you in the team ski walk. We definitely needed some guidance (at least on my team). Everyone had a great time in a fun environment. In addition to the team building competition there were games of all types, volleyball, basketball, badminton, air hockey, shuffleboard, ping pong, foosball and oh yeah a rock wall for the brave. I must say we have some climbers in this crowd. Several of our group, myself included, made it to the top of the wall to ring the bell. It was harder than I thought it would be.
If you are looking for a place to hold a company event I would recommend City Beach. In addition to the fun and games, the food was quite good. Well worth the trip to Fremont.
Many thanks to Lisa for setting up this event and making sure it ran smoothly. Here's looking forward to next years event. Hope it is just as fun.
